For anyone who travels from Spokane to Portland on Southwest airlines, it’s time to start rearranging your plans. According to KREM.com starting in January 2013 Southwest airlines will no longer have direct flights from Spokane to Portland. KREM.com reported that Southwest Airlines said the route is being cancelled because the planes will now be used in areas able to make more of a profit, such as Phoenix, Denver and Las Vegas.
Though Alaska Airlines still has seven daily flights, flying Alaska does have disadvantages such as a fee for checked baggage and smaller commuter planes.
Southwest airlines also stopped direct flights from Spokane to Seattle in January of this year.
