Most people say that the best way to get to know Spokane is to stay here for a summer. This summer I had the luxury of living and working in Spokane. As a de-stresser I spent my downtime finding the secret treasures of Spokane. This is a once a month segment that will let you in on both the awesomeness of Spo-summers and the treasures of Spokane.
Bet you didn’t know this gorgeous park existed. At least, I didn’t know Huntington Park existed until this summer. To be fair, it is well hidden and is overshadowed by the well known River Front Park that GU students walk through to get downtown. If it weren’t for my need for cheaper parking rates, I wouldn’t have discovered this park. This summer, I had to park my car in a lot next to Anthony’s, then I cross the Post Street bridge to get downtown for my internship.
To get to this park all you have to do is walk down the stairs of the City Hall Plaza, located between City Hall on Post Street and Avista Power company building. It’s got the best view of Spokane’s iconic Monroe Street Bridge (picture below). If the view isn’t enough to get you to this park, the Bulldog Bargain also has a buy one get one coupon for Brain Freeze Creamery (a delicious ice cream shop in Kendall Yards)!
